MOUNT VERNON-The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team, or KSAAT, has produced a video and audio public service announcement to raise awareness of the prescription drop-off boxes at the Mount Vernon Police Station and the Knox County Sheriff’s office.
It’s important to get rid of your old and expired prescription medications in the drop off boxes so that they don’t get into the hands of children or others who may abuse the pills. Prescription medication abuse is a problem across the country and here in Knox County.
You can drop off the medications anytime, 24/7. No injectables, inhalers or liquids will be accepted and pills should be placed in baggies before being deposited in the boxes.
The mission of the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team is to engage our community in building partnerships dedicated to preventing and reducing substance abuse among youth and adults in Knox County. The KSAAT Vision: A community connected to supportive resources and committed to health and wellness. Members of KSAAT include a representative from numerous sectors of the Knox County community: law enforcement, health care, education, churches, media, social service agencies, government, civic groups, parents, business, and youth organizations.
