Accidents:

Just after 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Judith L. Keen, 68, of Mount Vernon was backing her 2002 Lincoln Town Car out of an angled-parking spot on W. High Street and struck a vehicle driven by Ashley D. Goheen, 27, of Mount Vernon, which was heading eastbound on W. High Street.

At 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Bishop Maxwell Khalil, 16, of Mount Vernon was heading westbound on Coshocton Avenue near Catherine Street in his 1996 Eagle Talon.  Robert Aaron Strawser, 16, of Centerburg was immediately in front of him heading in the same direction.  When Strawser stopped for an unknown item in the roadway, Khalil rear-ended his 2001 Hyundai Tiburon.

According to the report, this incident started in the Wal-Mart parking lot when the occupants of Khalil’s vehicle threatened those in Strawser’s.  According to Strawser, he left the scene and Khalil gave chase and was still pursuing him when something ran in front of his vehicle causing him to slam on his brakes—and causing Khalil to run into him.

According to Khalil and his passenger, they were in the Wal-Mart parking lot and observed Strawser there.  They followed him to the Kroger parking lot, at which time they engaged him in conversation.  It escalated into an argument regarding an alleged incident that occurred in Centerburg several months ago—which involved threats being made with a pellet rifle.

Strawser stated that he had made no threats during the previous incident, but did have a pellet rifle.  He added that he had a pellet pistol in the hatch of his vehicle.  An officer checked the hatch and found a black Daisy pellet pistol covered by a rag and a substantial amount of dust.  A pair of handcuffs lay under the pistol.  The pistol was inoperable due to a missing magazine.  All parties agreed that the pistol had not been pulled at any time.

Law enforcement had not been contacted regarding the Centerburg incident and, at the request of one of the parents, an officer advised the Knox County Sheriff’s Office so that they could look into it.  A deputy arrived on the scene to take statements.

The parents or guardians of all of the juveniles involved came to the scene and, after being apprised of the entire situation, the young men were released to their custody.

Khalil was cited for the more recent incident.

At 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, George P. Wagner, 85, of Newark was traveling eastbound on Adamson Street in his 1994 Ford Crown Victoria.  A 2006 Honda Civic owned by Marie E. Hoskins, 56, of Heath was parked on the street in front of a residence on the 100-block of Adamson Street facing eastbound.  Wagner attempted to park in front of U2 and side-swiped it in the process.
