MOUNT VERNON- If you are a United States citizen, a registered voter of Knox County, are available to attend a training class and are willing to serve on Election Day, November, November 5, from 5:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. you are eligible to apply to be a precinct worker. The job pays a base rate of $116 for the day.
The Knox County Board of Elections depends on civic-minded individuals to efficiently process voters, provide instruction on the proper use of the voting equipment and effectively solve potential problems that voters may encounter on Election Day. The role of the precinct Election Official is crucial in the democratic process. Without them, the polls could not be operated.
The Board is getting the word out about the precinct workers to increase the number of available election officials, to expand public knowledge of the voting process, and to create opportunities for individuals to commit and meet civic responsibilities.
Knox County has 58 precincts and four poll workers are required at each location.
