Fredericktown firefighters responded to a home on Yankee Street Tuesday night on the report of a residential structure fire with flames showing from the second story of the home. Fredericktown Community Fire District Chief Scott Mast based upon the initial call of a working fire immediately requested mutual-aid. Tankers from Jefferson Township (T121) and Worthington Township (T115) in Richland County responded to the scene with personnel.
Upon arrival to the scene, Chief Mast marked it as a working structure fire with flames coming from the rear upper windows of the home. At the time of the fire there were four people at home, all were evacuated by the time of fire department arrival.
The initial attack line was advanced into the structure with a crew of three firefighters attacking the seat of the fire. Additional lines were pulled to the rear of the home to hit additional fire with another crew was sent to a portion of the home to cover belongings with tarps and move items to prevent further damage.
The largest extent of the fire and damage was contained to three bedrooms and a bathroom.

There were working smoke detectors in the home at the time of the fire.
An estimated 2000 gallons of water was used throughout the fire to bring the situation under control according to FCFD Assistant Chief Dwayne Canter.
No injuries were reported by the home occupants or firefighters battling the fire. The cause of the fire is still undetermined and under investigation by the FCFD.
The FCFD had 24 of 29 total personnel respond to the fire.
