Arrests

Joann Moore, 71, of Mount Vernon was cited at 12:30 p.m. last Monday (7/1/13) for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Curtis W. Zerkle, 39, of East Liberty was cited at around 10:50 a.m. on Monday for failing to drive within marked lanes.

Karen A. Shriver, 52, of Mount Vernon was cited just before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday for speeding (45 in a 25 mph zone).

Brian D. Jose, 31, of Mount Vernon was charged just after 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday with theft from the Wal-Mart.  He was also found to be wanted for an outstanding warrant and found to be in violation of his parole.

Incidents

Just after 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, an officer responded to a report of a theft from a residence on the 400-block of E. Chestnut Street.  The victim reported that a black-and-silver Kenwood amp, valued at $200 had been taken.  A suspect was identified.

Just past 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a disturbance involving trespassing was reported near the community pool.

At around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, a victim reported that his car had been vandalized while parked on the 400-block of E. High Street.  Someone had broken off the gear-shifter of the Dodge Caravan.  A suspect was identified.

At 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a victim reported that her cell-phone had been stolen from her vehicle parked outside her apartment on E. Pleasant Street.

At about 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, a resident reported finding drug paraphernalia, including several marijuana pipes, in an apartment on the 400-block of N. Sandusky Street.

Just before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a resident of Highland Drive reported finding a men’s mountain bike in his yard.  An officer took it into custody and placed it in the impound lot for safekeeping.

At around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, officers  were dispatched to Wal-Mart when an alleged shoplifter became combative with associates.   The suspect, who allegedly attempted to steal a TV-wall mount valued at $158.69, was arrested for a number of offenses.
