GAMBIER – A few raindrops did not stop Gambier’s Fourth of July festivities Thursday morning. The events included the naming of Tom Lepley as Citizen of the Year. Lepley is a long-time resident of the village and employee of Kenyon College. Village administrator Suzanne Hopkins introduced Lepley, saying he cares about the community and is always willing to help a neighbor in need.  Upon accepting the honor, Lepley said, “It’s been a great pleasure working with the village, the college, and the surrounding community.”

Lepley then left the podium and took a seat in a convertible to lead the annual Gambier 4th of July parade through downtown Gambier.
