MOUNT VERNON — For the Yellow Jackets, there’s no place like home.
Mount Vernon earned the No. 3 seed in the Division I Central 2 sectional/district tournament when the draw was held Sunday. The Yellow Jackets will open tournament play at home against either No. 37 Reynoldsburg or No. 40 Grove City Central Crossing in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 12.
The higher seeded team will host throughout the district and Mount Vernon is the highest seeded team on the Central 2 bracket, meaning the Yellow Jackets could host a district championship game if they were to reach the district final.
Fredericktown picked up the No. 9 seed in the Division III Central 1 sectional/district. The Freddies open tournament play at No. 7 Marion Pleasant at 5 p.m. May 12 in the sectional final.
Centerburg is the the Division III Central 2 sectional/district. The Trojans will host No. 11 Milford Center Fairbanks in a sectional opener at 5 p.m. May 10.
Danville earned the No. 1 seed in the Division IV Central 1 sectional/district field and will host No. 19 Columbus Patriot Preparatory in a sectional final at 5 p.m. May 13. No. 9 East Knox will host No. 18 Columbus Wellington at 5 p.m. May 13. If both Danville and East Knox win their openers, they would meet in the district semifinals at 5 p.m. May 18 at Danville.
