MOUNT VERNON – NAIA President Jim Carr announced on Monday that the NAIA has canceled the remainder of the 2020 spring sports season, effective immediately.
MVNU and the Crossroads League had announced on Friday, March 13 that the spring sports season would be suspended until April 1. President Carr’s announcement today overrides that original decision, ending the 2020 spring sports season immediately. This includes all MVNU matches against schools not affiliated with the NAIA, including the men’s lacrosse scrimmage dates of April 3, April 4 and April 18.
President Carr also announced that NAIA spring sport athletes will not be charged with a season of competition for the 2020 year. All MVNU spring sport athletes are given two additional semesters of eligibility.
MVNU women’s soccer also announced that their ID camp set for March 28 has been canceled as part of MVNU’s cancelation of all on-campus events before March 29.
