KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the third consecutive season, Jevon Knox of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team has received NAIA All-American recognition.

After averaging 21.2 points per game on 50% shooting from the floor and 44.7% from three, the senior from Marysville, Ohio was named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Team. Knox also accounted for 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Knox’s scoring average ranked 23 nationally, and he ranked 17 nationally in free throw percentage at 86.5%.

Knox saved his best performance for the Crossroads League Quarterfinals at Bethel University on February 24, 2021, as he lit up the Pilots for a career-high 45 points. Knox’s heroic effort was enough to lead MVNU to the 117-104 upset in Mishawaka, Indiana.

His 45 points were the second most points ever scored for MVNU men’s basketball in a single game, right behind Don Eads who scored 47 points against Spring Arbor on December 12, 1969.

Head Coach Jared Ronai had this to say about one of the most prolific players to ever put on an MVNU uniform:

“What a special recognition for Jev, our program, and all of his hard work,” Ronai said. “To be a three time All-American is really special. He would be the first one to credit his teammates, and as a program we know individual recognition comes from collective hard work and sacrifice.

“So proud of Jev and all of his accomplishments as a Cougar.”

Knox was sensational for MVNU this season, as he ranked fourth in the Crossroads League in scoring. Knox surpassed 2,000 points for his career, and sits fourth all-time on the men’s basketball scoring list with 2,163 total points.
