GAMBIER – With eight catches, 155 receiving yards and a touchdown, Kenyon College senior tight end Matt Jolliffe helped steer the Lords football team to a 32-31, double-overtime win Saturday at The Catholic University of America.

Monday, Jolliffe was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week. Tuesday, Jolliffe jumped up to the national stage and was voted to the season’s first D3football.com Team of the Week, a 26-player squad that recognizes 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players and four special teamers selected from NCAA Division III institutions.

In the second quarter of Saturday’s game, Jolliffe produced the Lords’ first points of the game by snaring a 19-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Thomas Merkle. That led to 36 receiving yards in the second quarter and then another 36 yards on the third quarter.

Back in the first quarter of play, Jolliffe had a catch for 26 yards. He then completed his impressive game with two more fourth-quarter catches that added up for another 29 yards.

With one week of play in the books, Jolliffe is the NCAC’s leading receiver.
