MOUNT VERNON -- Mount Vernon didn't let a 7-6 halftime bulge become a bridge too far. The Yellow Jackets simply rallied in the second half to earn a 26-21 victory and remain undefeated.

Lexington took a 7-6 halftime lead and enjoyed a 15-12 advantage going to the fourth quarter

But the Yellow Jackets put a bow on this victory with a strong final-quarter kick, outpointing the Minutemen 14-6 in the last stanza.

The Yellow Jackets are one of the area's most pleasant surprises with a 4-0 overall record, 1-0 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. Mount Vernon will host Ashland on Friday night.

Lexington slips to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in the OCC. The Minutemen travel to Wooster next week.
