MOUNT VERNON — The Yellow Jackets picked up a signature win on Friday and found out their postseason fate Sunday.

Fresh off Friday’s 58-55 win over Ohio Cardinal Conference-leading Wooster, Mount Vernon (5-12) earned the No. 38 seed in the Central District and will open tourney play at home against No. 44 Galloway Westland at 7 p.m. Feb. 23.

The Jackets pulled off the upset of the OCC season Friday, sending Wooster (12-2) to its first conference loss since the end of the 2018-19 season. The Generals had won 19 straight OCC games.

Caden Rowland scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and drew a charge in the final seconds to help secure the win. Blake Meyer led the way with 17 points to go with seven boards and five blocked shots. Hudson Rohler added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Division III

Fredericktown earned the No. 6 seed in the Division III central district field and will host No. 13 Madison Plains for a sectional title at 1 p.m. Feb. 27.

No. 8 Centerburg will host No. 22 Columbus International at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 in the sectional semifinals.

Division IV

County rivals East Knox and Danville will meet for a sectional title at 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at East Knox. The Bulldogs got the No. 5 seed, while the Blue Devils are the No. 17 seed.
