MOUNT VERNON -- Mansfield Senior claimed a wild, see-saw affair on Friday night, tripping Mount Vernon 57-50 in an Ohio Cardinal Conference boys basketball game.

The Yellow Jackets jumped to the lead 15-11 through the first quarter, but the Tygers responded to move on top 27-22 at halftime.

Mount Vernon nosed back in front 37-35 heading to the final eight minutes, but Mansfield Senior controlled the final period for the victory.

Shad Creamer topped Senior High with 14 points, while Roger Merrell III and Devin Brown contributed 12 and 9 points, respectively.

Evan Boatwright pumped in a game-high 23 points to pace the Yellow Jackets. Teammate Blake Meyer had 11 points and Connor Fisher added eight.

The Tygers enjoyed a 26-20 rebounding advantage.

Mount Vernon is at Watkins Memorial on Saturday, Dec. 28. Mansfield Senior travels to West Holmes on Friday. Jan. 3.
