Earlier this summer, 660 community members took the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival’s online survey, which was meant to solicit feedback for a rebrand in 2020. According to festival board chair Joe Rinehart, a majority of the survey’s respondents were in favor of changing the festival’s name.
The deadline for mail-in registration for the fiddle competition is Friday, Aug. 2. Online registration is accepted through Friday, Aug. 9.
On Tuesday, CVB Board of Trustees Chair Barbara Kakiris issued a statement in response to Pat Crow’s letter. In the statement, Kakiris addresses Crow’s claims and offers insight as to where the complaints may have originated. She also explains the relationship between the CVB and Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, Inc., which are independent entities.
In less than three months, the 2019 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival is scheduled to take place in downtown Mount Vernon. But according to letters obtained by Knox Pages, no local talent has been booked – and the festival’s long time co-directors, Pat and Sandy Crow, have recently resigned.
