Whitney P. Layne

Whitney P. Layne, age 21, of Mount Gilead, passed away at her home Friday, June 21, 2019.

On February 5, 1998, Whitney was born in Marion, Ohio, a daughter of Amy R. (Collins) Layne and Chad D. Layne.  She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in the Class of 2017.

While growing up, Whitney was very active in the Triple R Bar 4-H Group and also enjoyed playing softball.  She was a lifeguard at Candlewood Lake and loved boating, fishing and tubing there.  She enjoyed drawing and really liked to go shopping where she would spend hours trying on everything.

She was a licensed STNA, but her role as a mother was most important to her.  Whitney’s pride and joy was her two year old daughter, Ava.  She cherished spending time with and taking care of her.

Whitney will always be remembered for the way her smile lit up a room.  She was a funny, smart kid with a wonderful personality.

Whitney will be dearly missed by her daughter, Ava Kircher, of Mount Gilead; her sister, Kelsey Porretta of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; her mom, Amy Layne of Wilbur-By-The-Sea, FL; her dad, Chad Layne of Mount Gilead; her grandfather, Larry Layne of Mount Gilead; her grandmother, Peggy Pacha of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; aunt and uncle, Dawn and Darrell Adkins of Mount Gilead; and cousins: Nate, Caitlin and Megan Adkins.

She was preceded in death by a grandmother, Marilyn Layne; a grandfather, Dale Collins; and an uncle, J.D. Collins.

Whitney’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions in Whitney’s name may be made to Snyder Funeral Home to assist her family with funeral expenses.
