Robert N. “Rob” Johnson, age 64, of Cardington and formerly of Columbus, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Morrow County Hospital.
On July 4, 1955, Rob was born in Jamestown, NY, son of Robert Johnson and the late Elizabeth (Patchen) Kannal. He graduated from Bexley High School and then obtained an Associate’s Degree from Columbus State Community College in Computer Science.
Rob met the love of his life, Christy L. Lavely, while spending time at the Dixie Dance Hall in Columbus. They were married on February 25, 1978, at the Calvin Presbyterian Church. They shared over 41 wonderful years together as husband and wife.
Over the years, Rob worked many manufacturing and warehouse jobs including Honda, Victoria’s Secret and The Limited. He also drove a concrete truck for Ellis Brothers. During the summer Rob also enjoyed working at Mid-Ohio Racecourse.
Rob loved sports and especially liked cheering on his favorite teams, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed throwing darts and spent several years bowling in leagues with Christy. He was a biker at heart and loved riding his Honda Shadow and Triumph Tiger motorcycle. He also liked being outdoors, either hiking, working in his vegetable garden, or just admiring flowers and trees that he didn’t already know.
Family was a very important part of Rob’s life. He cherished spending time with them and going on numerous family outings.
Rob was usually a quiet man, but he was extremely knowledgeable and liked to educate others on various topics.
Rob will be dearly missed by his wife, Christy, of Cardington; his son, Robert “Robby” (Katherine “Katie”) Johnson of Mount Gilead, a grandson, Brayden Johnson of Mount Gilead; his dad, Robert Johnson ( Carolyn ) of Logan; a Step dad Ray Kannal, a brother, Charlie Johnson of NH; two sisters: Suzanne (Mark) Luoma of MD, Amy (Charlie) Edwards of IN; and many other extended relatives in the Johnson, Lavely and Kannal families.
Memorial services to honor and celebrate Rob’s life will be held August 31st at Worthington Christian Village at 3:00pm.
Memorial contributions in Rob’s honor may be made to his family to assist with final expenses.
