Perry Martis “Bud” Trinkner, age 94, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends as he walked the last greens and entered God’s heavenly fairway on Saturday evening, May 20, 2023. He was born on October 2, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Perry E. and Margaret (Mardis) Trinkner.
Perry was raised in Mount Vernon Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Louise in elementary school. After graduating in 1946 from Mount Vernon High School, he obtained his undergraduate degree at Kenyon College in 1950 followed by his doctorate degree from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1955. That same year he married his bride of 67 years, Louise Thomas on December 30, 1955. Perry was a veteran of the United States Airforce where he practiced and provided care for his fellow servicemen. He practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Mount Vernon and retired in 1984 to pursue his passion for golf.
Raised on the 7th green at the Mount Vernon Country Club, Perry used this to his advantage and fine tune his golf game that would help create many accomplishments on the course for the years to follow. Until 2022 he held the lowest 18-hole score for Kenyon College Golf, firing a 67, 5 under par, dating back to 1949. Starting at the age of sixteen, he won his first Club Championship at the Mount Vernon Country Club and went on to win it a total of twenty-one times in six consecutive decades. He actively participated in many community service organizations and served as president of the local school board for many years.
He is survived by his bride, Louise Trinkner, their three children, Dr. Thomas (Jennifer) Trinkner, Anne (James) Howes, and Robert (Stacie) Trinkner, five grandchildren, Ryan Howes, Mandi Blubaugh, Zan Trinkner, Zoe Trinkner and Will Trinkner, and four great grandchildren, Isaac, Tyler and Lukas Blubaugh, and Bella Howes.
The family would like to acknowledge and express their heartful gratitude for the nurses, aides, and wonderful care provided by Ohio Eastern Star Home and the angels at Capital City Hospice.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. Pastor Joe Noonan will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
