Nellie M. Grandstaff, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 11, 2023. She was born on September 22, 1935, in Plain City, Ohio, to the late Harry and Ruth (Moore) Lowry. Nellie and her husband, Raymond Grandstaff were married in Rossville, Georgia, on August 5, 1952, and were married for 70 years.
Nellie was an owner and office manager of Ross Brothers Auto Wrecking in Marengo and Ross Brothers Salvage in Mount Vernon. More than anything, she cherished being a loving wife and mother. Nellie enjoyed serving others, and making people feel welcome. She loved traveling and supporting various charitable organizations. Nellie enjoyed going to casinos and playing the slot machines.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Ben (Tamie) Grandstaff, Harry Grandstaff, Cindy (Craig) Capwell, John (Sigi) Grandstaff, Jeff (Christy) Grandstaff, Vicky (Derek) Kurzenknabe; numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Bolon-Williams, Carl Lowry, Harry Lowry Jr, Kenneth Lowry; a daughter-in-law, Vicky Grandstaff.
