Michael C. McDonald, 67, Howard, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 9, 2019.
He was born on April 13, 1952 in Mount Vernon to Edward Arthur and Mary Ellen (McFadden) McDonald.
Michael finished his race here on earth courageously at his home with his wife and daughters by his side and his faithful dog Boomer at his feet.
Mike was a Godly man whose focus in life was spending time with family and working to improve his piece of ground God blessed him with. Over the years some of his favorite memories were trapping and hunting with his brothers on the Ridge, hunting and showing coon dogs, and fishing with close friends and family.
Mike was a member of Millwood Church of Christ. He retired after 30+ years from Ohio Cumberland Gas Company, and lived every day of retirement to the fullest.
This past Summer and Fall, Mike and his family lived by his motto, “tomorrow is promised to no one”, as they made the most of every day working together on the Koi Farm, and multiple rock projects, sitting around endless fires together, cooking wild game and laughing and telling old stories.
Mike is survived by his high school sweetheart, love of his life and wife of 47 years Cheryle (Alexander) McDonald, his mother Mary Ellen (McFadden) McDonald; two daughters, Becky (Duane) Davis of Howard and Michelle McDonald of Welcome, Ohio; three grandchildren, Bethan and Stephen Davis, Justus Matthews; sisters, Judy (Ron) Hess and Cheri (Alan) Fry both of Howard; brother, Jeff (Amy) McDonald of Howard; sister-in-law, Pam McDonald of Danville; many nieces and nephews; close family friend and business partner, Brandon Keim and his faithful dog, Boomer.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, William and Doug McDonald; niece, Chrissy McDonald; and sister-in-law, Loney McDonald.
Calling hours for Mike were held all summer and fall, as his friends and family came to show Mike and Cheryle their love and support.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 – 2:00 PM at Millwood Church of Christ with Evangelist Dave Jones and Gene Lilly officiating.
