Martha Elizabeth Nugent, 92, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018 at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 21, 1926 in Bellville, Ohio, to the late Tom and Gladys (Swank) Grubaugh.

Martha worked at Continental Can, Mount Vernon Telephone Company, Ohio Eastern Star Home, and Tilden Lanes. Martha was a member of the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren in Ankenytown for over 60 years. She was a Foster Grandparent for 25 years. Martha was a past member of the Colonial City Women of the Moose Chapter 100.

Martha is survived by her son, C. Ray (Laura Ackerman) McFadden, of Knox County, Ohio; a step-daughter, Georgianna Ogdan, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; a granddaughter; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Leona Huggins, of Fredericktown, Ohio, Mabel (Bill) Morton, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Clarence McFadden; 2nd husband, Gene Nugent; brothers, Tom and Robert Grubaugh.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 at 1 p.m. with an hour prior of visitation starting at noon at the Owl Creek Church of the Brethren in Ankenytown; 13241 Toms Road, Bellville, Ohio, 44813 with Pastor Charles Barnill officiating. Burial will follow in Ankenytown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Owl Creek Church of the Brethren.
