Gary Lee Armstrong, age 83, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Knox Community Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1938, in Danville, Ohio to the late Dawson and Bernice (Harding) Armstrong.

Gary was employed for over 30 years at American National Can Co. where he was a Machinist. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #4027, and Amvets Post #95.

He was an avid Indian, Browns and Buckeyes fan. Gary was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Ursula Hall; his brother Dick (Connie) Armstrong; his sister-in-law Karen Armstrong; his brother-in-law Jack Welch; numerous nieces and nephews and his special niece Judy Newman. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers Dwight, Robert, Ronnie, Kenny, and David Armstrong; and his sisters, Dorothy Welch, Joyce Scott and Marlene Pitts.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 12-1PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will follow, beginning at 1PM, with Pastor Marvin Haugh officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that folks would pay it forward by doing an unexpected, good deed for someone.
