Elizabeth A. “Beth” OBrien, age 68, of Cardington, passed away Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019, at Marion General Hospital.
On January 24, 1951, Beth was born in Mount Vernon, OH, a daughter of the late Theodore R. and Anna G. (Lynch) Dowalter.
A woman of faith, Beth was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Mount Vernon and with Appleton Crossroads Ministries. She loved playing cards with the seniors at the church and was very involved with the ACC Food Bank. She always kept some sweets with her to give out to the children there.
Beth worked for years at Amana Stove in Delaware, OH, working in multiple departments. She then was a server at the Duke and Duchess Truck Stop Restaurant. She loved her job there and taking care of her customers.
Beth was an avid Bingo player and also enjoyed many card games such as: Euchre, Rummy, Hand and Foot and Triominos. She often supported the Ohio Lottery by getting her scratch off tickets.
Family was a very important aspect of Beth’s life. She loved getting together with the family and having a big meal. Halloween was her favorite time of year. She always looked forward to dressing up and handing out candy.
Beth will be remembered as a unique woman who marched to the beat of her own drum. She was very witty, or some may even say sarcastic. She loved to talk to people and never met a stranger.
Beth will be dearly missed by her two daughters: Anna (Joe) Stossel of Nokesville, VA, Heather Ingle of Mount Gilead, OH; six grandchildren: Jordan and Troy Stossel, Kyla Huffine, Katelin (Don) Bush, Austin and Haydan Ingle; three great grandchildren: Willow, Jaydon and Hayden; three brothers: Patrick (Diane) Dowalter of Mount Vernon, OH, Theodore (Patty) Dowalter of Stedman, NC, James Dowalter of Marengo, OH; and a sister, Teresa (Don) Mann of Cardington, OH.
