Edward J. Kupiec, 66, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 30, 1951 in Binghamton, New York the son of Joseph and Anneliese (Messerer) Kupiec. Ed proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

Ed worked as a restaurant manager for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post #136. He was a lover of animals, from his canine companions to the neighborhood birds and squirrels. Ed sometimes known as “Fast Eddie” always enjoyed a good game of billiards and played competitively for several years in Binghamton, New York and Florida, but most important to him was the quality time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Yvonne (Silvanic) Kupiec; two sons, Ed (Bethany) Kupiec and Timothy Kupiec, both of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Michael Kupiec, Tricia (Cody Kennedy) Kupiec and Trevor Kupiec; a great granddaughter, Aarolyn; his mother; three brothers, Daniel (Linda) Kupiec, Jerry Kupiec and Joseph Kupiec and a sister, Joanne Kupiec.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a military service provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will begin at 7 p.m.
