Douglas “Doug” W. Glasmeier, 76, of Utica, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1941 in Newark, Ohio the son of Herman and Hazel (Frazier) Glasmeier. Doug served in the United State Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He retired in 1997 after 32 years of employment with Owens Corning in Newark, Ohio.

Doug like working on automobiles and was currently operating Glasmeier Repair shop. Doug fit the motto of “never met a stranger” and he especially enjoyed his gathering of friends at the Southside Diner in Mount Vernon. He will be missed and remembered by many.

He is survived by his son; Scott (Heather) Glasmeier, of Howard; step-daughter, Dixie Geer, of Utica; four grandchildren, James Armstrong, Lucas Armstrong, Julianna Glasmeier and Heather Geer; a brother, Jeff Glasmeier, of Marysville; a sister, Teresa Stedham, of Newark, and his canine companions, Sammy, Maxie, Benji, Foxy, Penny and Maggie.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Kuhn) Glasmeier and a step-daughter, Donna Geer.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050. The family will observe a private service.

Memorial contributions in Doug’s name may be made to the Knox County Animal Shelter, 285 Columbus Rd., Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.
