Donald Ralph Tuggle, age 78 of Fredericktown, was cuddled into the arms of Jesus while surrounded by his family on Monday, August 23, 2021.
He was born on May 6, 1943, in Tazwell County, Virginia to the late Claude B. and Frankie A. (Meade) Tuggle. Donald worked at Columbus Plastics for 10 years and at Columbus Auto Parts for over 24 years before starting his own trucking business, from which he retired.
In May of 1961, he married the love of his life, Diane (Logan). Through thick and thin, together over 60 years they raised a family, built a homestead, and weathered the storms of life.
A man who loved the Lord, he was a dedicated member of Centerburg Free Will Baptist Church, while serving on the church board where his son Pastors. Often expressing and encouraging folks to “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord”. In addition to the Lord, his life was centered on family and music. He enjoyed a passion for Bluegrass music and was a member of Cedar Bluff Bluegrass group for 5 years, playing the mandolin. He also played in the church with his boys before he became sick. He collected all kinds of instruments including mandolins, fiddles, and guitars. He also loved to carve walking sticks.
Ornery to his core, he was the consummate jokester. One never left his house hungry. He was thoughtful and concerned, caring for others more than himself. He also enjoyed camping with his children, trips to Myrtle Beach will long be remembered. His proudest achievements were his children and precious grandchildren whom he treasured.
In addition to his wife Diane, he is also survived by his six children: Donald “Raymond” of Cardington, Terry of Fredericktown, Lynn of Cardington, Mark (Trisha) of Mount Gilead, Curtis Lee of Mt. Gilead, and Chad (Jennifer) of Fredericktown, 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Shannon, Cody, Macayla, Justin (Abby), Dylan, Micah, Noah, Triston, and Brylinn (Tuggle) and 8 great-grandchildren, brother Claude Mack Tuggle of Arizona, sister Dollie Kilgore of Centerburg, numerous nieces, nephews, long time family friend Ronda Heimlich and extended family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by sisters: Arbeulah and Freda Tuggle, Linda Griffith, Brenda Prince, brother-in-law’s Denver Kilgore, Wayne Prince, sister-in-law Peggy Tuggle.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 at the Centerburg Free Will Baptist Church, 360 N. Clayton St., Centerburg, Ohio 43011 where services will be held Friday at 11:00 am with his son Pastor Mark Tuggle officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta.
