Delores C. “Dee” Timms, 74, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 at her home.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1943 in Mount Vernon to the late Victor and Clio Edith (White) Hess.
Dee was a 1961 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and she then attended and graduated from the Huntington Barber College. She was the former owner and operator of the Terrace Beauty Shop in Mount Vernon and Dee’s Family Barbershop in Fredericktown. Dee attended and helped serve alongside her husband, Rev. John M. Timms Jr. the AME Church in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene.
Dee is survived by her husband, Rev. John M. Timms Jr. whom she married on Oct. 19, 1978; son, Stephen McGraw Jr., of Belpre; daughters, Keitha (Mike) Sorenson, of Crestview, Florida, Sharon (Ken) Spencer of Lucas and Darla (Matt) Smith, of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by sisters, Eileen R. Hess, Judy Herbst, Patricia Edgar and Eva Zimmerman; and brothers, Dean and John Hess.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. A graveside service will follow in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown.
