David R. Potes, age 81, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019.

He was born on December 3, 1937 in Howard, Ohio to the late Charles and Charline (Rinehart) Potes.

David was employed for a brief time at Chattanooga Glass but retired from Cooper Bessemer after numerous years of employment. He was a Life Member of AMVETS Post #95, Life Member and Chaplain of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #760 Mount Vernon, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of Knox County, and the BMW Riders Association of Knox County. David was a veteran serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lynn (Tom Oakes) Potes; his sons, Ricky Allen (Sherri) Potes, Daniel Raymond (Stacey) Potes; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; his brother Gordon (Betty) Potes; and his sister Linda (Donnie Clements) Potes.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son Douglas Potes; five sisters, Dorothy Dinsmore, Elsie Richards, Retha Goossens, Eunice Potes, Virginia Payne; and two brothers, Chuck and Wayne Potes.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 4-7PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, at the funeral home, beginning at 11AM. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will follow in Amity Cemetery.
