Darlyene worked for Canterbury Villa of Centerburg for many years and was a lifelong homemaker.  She had a passion for any kind of animal and had many pets over the years. She loved to look through magazines filled with dogs, cats, and colorful birds.  Darlyene’s most precious time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. A devoted woman of God, Darlyene was a member of Fargo Wesleyan Church.

On December 18, 1949, Darlyene married John Roland Hankins, her sweetheart who lived just up the road in Bloomfield. They were married for 62 years before John’s passing in 2012.

She is survived by sons: John Robert (Retta) Hankins of Marengo, Christopher Allen Hankins of Centerburg, grandchildren: Jonathan Todd Hankins of Centerburg, Chad Alan (Amber) Hankins of Centerburg, Kanaan Hankins and family of Dublin; great-grandchildren: Taylor (Gabe) Randall of Fulton, Garison Alan and Gavin John Hankins of Centerburg; and brother Don Powell of Centerburg; nieces Kris (Dave) Compton of Apple Valley, Angie (Ron) Miller of Mt. Liberty, and nephew David (Reggie) Powell of Delaware.

In addition to her parents, Darleyne was also preceded in death by her husband, brother Earl “Bob” Powell, and two sister-in-law’s Doris Powell and Nita Powell.

A special thanks to her loving niece Kris Compton who stayed by her side, comforting her through scripture reading and playing hymns.

Graveside services will be observed privately by her family at Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta, where she will be buried next to her beloved husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Morrow County, P.O. Box 298, Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338.
