Carol J. Summers, 77, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday morning, March 8, 2019 at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 13, 1941 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Frank and Esther (Hanby) Summers.
Carol was a 1959 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She retired from ODOT in Jacksontown where she was an Administrative Assistant. She was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed singing the gospel hymns. Carol greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her children, Terry (Thomas) Pemrick of Rose Hill, KS, Judy (Douglas) Henwood of Howard and Barbara (Rod) Fry of Perrysville; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Ron) Hempfield and Shirley Johnson of Mount Vernon; brother, Delbert (Karen) Summers of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Dorthy Goff; and brothers, Bob and Hollis Summers.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
