MOUNT GILEAD -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, announced today that OVI checkpoints will be held Friday night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Ohio 13/South Main Street and U.S. 36/Coshocton Avenue, in Knox County.

The OVI checkpoints, funded by federal grant funds, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoints will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink, the patrol said.
