MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher found 15 people guilty after trials were held in his courtroom this week.

The cases were argued on these specific dates.

Sept. 11

Two people were found guilty on Sept. 11 after trials were held at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

Matthew Wentworth, 34, of Columbus, was found guilty of possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

Delia Neel, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of driving under an FRA suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a $150 fine.

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

Sept. 10

Ten people were found guilty after arraignments and hearings were held at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Sept. 10.

Christopher King, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia and Improper Lane Usage. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine for the Possession charge and a $45 fine for the Improper Lane Usage charge.

Andrew Wilson, 23, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Lee Newell, 20, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with an Expired Registration. The Court sentenced him to pay a $25 fine.

J. Scott Eshelman, 28, of Howard, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine.

James Malone, 41, of Danville, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.

Timmy Patterson, 42, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.

James Darby, 51, of Mansfield, was found guilty of Theft. The Court sentenced him to serve 50 days in jail.

Hunter Phillips, 25, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. The Court sentenced him to serve 60 days in jail.

Alyssa Roman, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, and placed her on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days.

Jennifer Miller, 39, of Newark, was found guilty of Theft. The Court sentenced her to serve 20 days in jail.

Sept. 9

Three people were found guilty after arraignments and hearings were held at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Sept. 9.

Tina Shepard, 51, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Trespassing. The Court sentenced her to serve three days in jail.

Scott Vance, 33, of Gambier, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or a Drug of Abuse. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

William Allen, 28, of West Lafayette, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.
