DANVILLE — The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle fatal traffic crash.

The fatal crash occurred on Saturday at approximately 11:29 a.m. on US Route 62 near US Route 36 in Union Township, Knox County.

Jose Perez, 61, of Cambridge, was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 northbound on US 62. Perez failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the right side of the roadway and continued back onto the roadway before going off the left side of the roadway.

Perez struck a guardrail, overturned and the vehicle came to final rest on its top. Perez was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Perez was wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown if alcohol and drug usage are factors in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Eastern Knox Fire and EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Knox County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
