MORRIS TOWNSHIP – One person was found dead and another was sent to the hospital early Monday morning following a house fire in Morris Township.

According to a press release from the Mount Vernon Fire Department, which was first called to the scene, crews arrived at 13941 Upper Fredericktown Road in Morris Township at 2:59 a.m. Monday. First responders arrived to find the one-story residential home "fully involved in a fire."

The Mount Vernon Fire Department received mutual aid from Fredericktown EMS, the Fredericktown Community Fire District, the Eastern Knox County Fire District, and the Homer Fire Department. To assist with patient support the Red Cross was also called to the scene.

One civilian casualty was found inside the home and one patient was transported to Knox Community Hospital for evaluation, the press release stated. The State Fire Marshall Office was called to the scene to investigate the fire.
