BLADENSBURG -- A 54-year-old Roseville man reported missing on Sept. 20 was found dead in an open field Monday near County Road 380 just inside Coshocton County, according to Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer.
At approximately 1 p.m. Monday, Shaffer said the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by detectives from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. They had located Ernest Baker from Roseville, in an open field just inside of Coshocton County. Baker was discovered by a hunter, and his identity was confirmed.
He was initially reported missing on Sept. 20 from the area of McCament Road. The location where he was discovered is around a mile from where he was reported missing.
Officials from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Bladensburg Fire District, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Kokosing Valley Search and Rescue spent more than two days searching for Baker after he was reported missing. Rescue crews searched the wooded areas southeast of Bladensburg.
He was reported missing after being separated from his group while in a wooded area on McCament Road. Family members stated that Baker suffered from several health conditions.
The Coshocton County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
