Crash Reports

Aug. 25

  • James L. Reynolds was traveling north on s, Main St. toward Public Square. Colton J. Lyon was traveling north on Columbus Rd. transitioning onto S. Main St. The traffic lights are flashing red for all traffic traveling north and south. Reynolds failed to stop for the traffic light and entered into the intersection. Lyon was traveling across the intersection and struck Reynolds.

Aug. 27

  • An unknown vehicle and Mikaila L. Griffith were west bound on E. Gambier St. near Gay St. The unknown vehicle began to back up at the intersection and struck Griffith. The unknown vehicle left the scene. Officers searched the area for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. 
  • Mark R. Vaughn was stopped facing east at the Shalimar Apartment complex parking lot. Vaughn backed up westbound and, failing to see a vehicle owned by James A. Smith parked in a marked space, backed into it causing damage. Vaughn was cited for unsafe starting and backing.
  • Chad Dzierwa was traveling north on private property when it struck power lines overhead. There was damage to the utility pole and AEP responded to repair.
  • Donald P. Wertz was traveling west in the private storage lot. Diedra D. Reed was traveling south on Foundry St. Wertz entered the public roadway – Foundry St. - and struck Reed in the driver's side. Wertz was cited for failure to yield when driving onto a roadway.

Incident Reports

Aug. 25

  • An officer responded to a harassment complaint on Kirk St.

Aug. 26

  • An officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Newark Rd. for a complaint. When the officer arrived he spoke to the complainant who advised he had fired an employee who was harassing him. The complainant said his attorney advised him to file a complaint for documentation. A statement was collected.

Aug. 27

  • Units were dispatched to Sandusky and Madison streets for a suspicious vehicle. Drug paraphernalia was seized for destruction.
  • At approximately 9:28 AM an officer was dispatched to W. Curtis St. for a report of vandalism. When the officer arrived he spoke to the complainant over the phone. She said someone placed a screw in the sidewall of a tire on her vehicle A report was taken.

Aug. 28

  • Officers were dispatched to KCH for a disturbance. Upon arrival an officer spoke with the ER staff who stated a male brought in by the Mount Vernon Fire Department was acting out and trying to attack security personnel. The suspect, Roger Legg was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in a medical facility. He was transported to Knox County Jail without incident.
  • Officers received information someone was going to cut catalytic converters off of cars at a business on Coshocton Ave. At approximately 10:13 PM a male was observed going through the lot. Contact was made with the male who had removed a brake rotor from the bed of a truck. Michael Snyder was arrested and transported to Knox County Jail. He was charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and falsification. Probation also placed a holder on Snyder.

Aug. 29

  • At approximately 1:44 PM officers responded to McGibney Rd for a disturbance. When they arrived, an officer spoke to the complainant and two females. It was determined the incident was a civil issue and information was given to attempt to relieve the issue. While still on call, the complainant called 9 -1-1 and asked for a supervisor. A report was taken and it will be forwarded to the prosecutor.
  • An officer patrolling Coshocton Ave. observed a female jump from a moving vehicle and assault a male walking on the sidewalk. The male declined to pursue charges.

  • Melvin Richard Yeatman – Driving under FRA suspension.
  • Donald Paul Wertz – Drive onto road/Duty to yield.
  • Tyrone Antonio Merritt – Oversize/weight vehicle on local street.

Aug. 28

  • Makayla Sheets-Watson – Permitting an unlicensed driver to drive.
  • Joseph H. Stanford – Operator/chauffeur license required.

  • Ila Marie Lester-Garris – Driving on temporary permit without licensed driver.
