MOUNT VERNON -- Judge John Thatcher found 19 people found guilty after court trials, arraignments and hearings over the middle two weeks of February that the Mount Vernon Municipal Court was convened.
The following cases were brought forward by the Mount Vernon Law Director's Office.
FEB. 10
Jonathan Quintero, 30, of Columbus, was found guilty of Hunting Without Permission, Hunting with the aid of a motor vehicle, Hunting without a valid license and, Hunting with a firearm during archery season. For the Hunting Without Permission and Hunting with a firearm during archery season the Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $220 on each charge, serve 60 days in jail with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation. For Hunting with the aid of a motor vehicle the Court sentenced him to pay a $220 fine and pay a $200 fine for Hunting Without a valid license.
Matthew Myers, 41, of Mount Vernon, plead guilty to Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine and serve three days in jail.
Andrew Rodhe, 25, of Millersburg, plead guilty to Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine
Joshua Preece, 21, of Fredericktown, plead guilty to Driving Under Suspension and Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $220 fine for the DUS and a $35 fine for Speeding.
Aron Conkle, 35, of Mount Vernon, plead guilty to Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine and serve 3 days in jail.
Assistant Law Director, Steven Thomas D. Potts represented the State of Ohio and the City of Mount Vernon in the above cases.
FEB. 21
Cody Wells, 29, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine and serve 3 days in jail.
Richard Young, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. The Court sentenced him to pay court costs, serve 180 days in jail with all days suspended, placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete the Hands Down Program.
Amanda Goodman, 36, of Frazeysburg, was found guilty Failure to Confine. The Court sentenced her to pay court costs and serve 5 days in jail.
Levi Cunningham, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Misuse of the 911 System. The Court sentenced him to pay court costs, serve 15 days in jail and complete 20 hours of community service.
Ryan Smith, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Theft and one count of Falsification. The Court sentenced him to pay court costs on all counts, pay restitution in the amount of $127.02, and serve 90 days in jail concurrent with his prison term.
William Burch, 25, of Howard, was found guilty of Violating a Protection Order. The Court will sentence him on April 4, 2023 following a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
Marcus Hoadley, 43, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct/Persisting. The Court sentenced him to pay court costs and serve eight days in jail with credit for eight days served.
Andrea Bissett, 30, of St. Louisville, was found guilty of OVI. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail with 177 days suspended, placed her on two years of probation with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour Driver Intervention Program, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.
Todd Granstrom, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving with a Temporary Instruction Permit without a valid licensed driver. The Court sentenced him to pay a $25 fine.
Antonio Flora, 42, of Cleveland, was found guilty of Failure to Reinstate his Driver’s License. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.
Dewey Bandy, 86, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.
Assistant Law Director, Steven D Thomas Potts represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the above cases; with the exception of the Wells, Burch and Young cases which were represented by Assistant Law Director Brittany Whitney.
FEB. 22
Preston Coss, 22, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.
Justin Williams, 37, of Columbus, was found guilty of OVI. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail with 174 suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following conditions: attend and complete a Driver Intervention Program and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Edith Anderson, 74, of Howard, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $25 fine.
