MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 13 defendants guilty and sentenced two others after hearings, trials and arraignments were conducted this week in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.

NOV. 30

Michael Bee, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, all suspended, and placed on two years of probation with the following condition; obtain a drug and alcohol assessment.

Travis Youngs, 41, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.

Douglas Snow, 32, of Newark, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Thomas Ridenbaugh Jr. was found guilty of Speeding in a school zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $125 fine.

Awa Diallo, 25, of Dublin, was found guilty of Failure to Control. The Court sentenced her to pay court costs.

Law Director, Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Bee case and the State of Ohio in the Snow case. Assistant Law Director, Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio in the Ridenbaugh and Diallo cases and the City of Mount Vernon in the Youngs case.

NOV. 29

Austin Smith, 20, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Underage Consumption of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete 20 hours of community service.

Ethan Hammond, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Confine a Dog Running at Large. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

Kyle Bee, 32, of Danville, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and two counts of Not Wearing a Seatbelt. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $30 fine for each Seatbelt charge.

Jery Carpenter, 60, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.

Jamie Macy, 40, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Left of Center. The Court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine.

Sarah Hedinger, 40, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with Expired Plates. The Court sentenced her to pay a $15 fine.

Kathy Gamble, 73, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $50 fine.

Emily Bricker, 33, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 fine.

Jeremy Werner, 43, of Bellville, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court sentenced him to pay a $40 fine.

Dalton Jordan, 24, of Columbus, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.

Joshua Parker, 28, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to serve 22 days in jail.

Ashley Goines, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 144 days suspended. In addition, she was found guilty of Assault, Obstructing Official Business and Resisting Arrest on Oct. 19, 2022. Today she was sentenced to serve 36 days in jail for each of these counts and was placed on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, complete the Court’s Hands Down program, and complete 20 hours of community service for the Assault charge.

Shane Gump, 31, of Danville, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete the Court’s Hands Down program.

Shawn Gray, 42, of Utica, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on Oct. 18, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 142 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.

Amber Wright, 41 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft on Oct. 25, 2022. Today she was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the State of Ohio in the Goines and Gump cases.

Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

NOV. 28

William Scanlan, 60, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 130 days suspended, placed him on three years of community control with the following condition: enroll in an Intensive Outpatient Alcohol Treatment program, and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.
