MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found five guilty after court trials, arraignments and hearings were held at the Mount Municipal Court this week.

The Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office prosecuted the following cases:

SEPT. 23

Estel Martin, 47, of Heath, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension, Speeding, and Not Wearing a Seatbelt. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $35 fine for Speeding.

Thomas Sherrills, 54, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Reinstate his Operator’s License. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine.

Dusten Bell, 38, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay Court costs only.

Robert Barcus, 58, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $1,000 fine, serve 365 days in jail, with 303 days suspended, placed him on three years of community control with the following condition: complete an Intensive Outpatient Program, and suspended his operator’s license for three years.

Robert Hubbard, 34, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to serve 21 days in jail.

Katelyn Cooper, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced her to credit for time served

Shawn Culler, 47, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to serve 29 days in jail.

Dorothy Hunt, 23, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Endangering Children. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, and placed her on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a Parenting class and complete 10 hours of community service.

Logan Rhea, 25, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, and placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program.

Caleb Creasy, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. He will be sentenced on October 26, 2021 following a pre-sentence investigation.

Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in these cases.

SEPT. 22

Ashley Doyle, 35, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court sentenced her to 60 days in jail, with 57 days suspended, and placed her one year of probation with the following conditions: complete drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days and complete 15 hours of community service.

Melissa Miller, 39, of Howard, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a fine of $50.

Terry Wilkinson, 52, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Without a Valid License and Expired Plates. The Court sentenced him to pay a fine of $200.

James Ervin, 55, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under a 12 Point Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve three days in jail.

Mary Hunter, 28, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a fine of $300.

Assistant Law Director, Brittany Whitney, represented the State of Ohio and the City of Mount Vernon in all of the above cases.
