The University seeks a full-time, 12-month, Facilities Safety, Compliance, and Preparedness Coordinator, for its Facilities Department on the Mount Vernon main campus. The position reports to the Director of Facilities and Campus Safety and is available immediately upon appointment of a successful candidate. The University pay grade for this position is “C”. A full complement of benefits is provided including a health care plan, retirement plan, and tuition assistance (for self and dependents). The candidate will also receive generous holidays, and vacation and sick days earned on an accrual basis.
Responsibilities for this position include:
• Maintain and publish the Campus Safety’s policies and procedures, the Emergency Operations Plan, Annual Fire and Security Report, and the Building Administrator’s procedures
• Collaborate with all facilities coordinators on their safety, compliance and training needs
• Develop teamwork within the MVNU departments and the campus community to promote safety
• Maintain the campus evacuation plans for each building
• Develop and conduct table-top training scenarios and physical trainings for emergency situations
• Keep Campus Safety compliant with industry safety standards
• Train the Campus Safety department on compliance concerning campus policies and procedures
• Maintain campus-wide Everbridge and Alertus alerts for maintenance emergencies, inclement weather, and threats to the campus community
• Schedule and maintain OSHA training courses for all of the facilities departments
• Be the liaison for the campus with local law enforcement, Fire Department, and the Knox Emergency Management Agency to maintain professional working relationships
• Maintain compliance with Clery Act and the Daily Crime Log
• Act as the Campus Safety representative in Title IX situations
• Implement inspection program of safety equipment including extinguishers, elevators, AEDs, emergency lights, etc.
• Develop campus-wide safety training sessions for emergency preparedness and act as facilitator in all trainings.
• Publish monthly safety information to the campus community
• Demonstrate knowledge of the student handbook
• Maintain working knowledge of the different fire panels that are on campus
• Be the liaison for the Campus Safety department and outside responders in the Emergency Operations Center during Level I and II emergencies
• Coordinate with the Motor Pool department on maintaining compliance with ODOT standards
• Maintain compliance with required drug testing procedures and oversee scheduling
• Work with all facilities departments to maintain compliance with MSDS standards
• Maintain records and policies on facilities-related EPA hazardous waste disposal
• Facilitate training and implementation of the national incident management system (NIMS) for all required university personnel
• Other duties as assigned
Expectations for the successful candidate:
• Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven conflict management skills
• Current CPR certification, First Aid certification, and AED training preferred
• Possess a current Ohio Driver’s license and ability to operate University vehicles and equipment
• Must pass background check and safe drivers check
• Humbly and patiently support, and relates to each, faculty, staff, students, and visitors
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, face-to-face, phone, and electronic to all stakeholders on campus
• Shows initiative to anticipate, research, learn, and attempt to resolve all problems/issues/needs while maintaining essential services
• The ability to review, research, develop, explain, and present complex policies and procedures to all stakeholders, including Faculty, Staff, Students, Administrator, and the President’s Cabinet

• Demonstrates effective and efficient use of university resources
• Exhibits excellent judgment in decision making within university guidelines
• Must be capable of sitting, walking, and standing for long periods of time, frequent use of stairs, ability to safely operate power tools, and the ability to lift 50 pounds
