Valentine's banquet

MOUNT VERNON — WNZR, 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, presents its 22nd annual Valentine’s banquet on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., in Foster Hall, located inside Ariel Arena on the MVNU campus.

This year’s theme is “Silver Screen Serenade.” The WNZR staff will share a night of scenes and songs from some of the most romantic movies. Attendees will enjoy love songs they can sing along with and reenactments of famous romantic movie scenes.

“Our staff is thrilled to bring a new and exciting concept to the banquet this year,” said Marcy Rinehart, WNZR station manager. “The night will be a showcase featuring a group of extremely talented MVNU students and alumni providing music and dramatic performances. It will be a night full of music and fun — perfect for couples celebrating Valentine’s Day.”

WNZR plans to distribute over $1,000 worth of prizes throughout the evening, courtesy of local businesses. The official prize list will be announced soon and will be available on www.wnzr.fm.

Banquet tickets are $20 per person and include a full buffet dinner, entertainment and door prizes. The Italian meal will feature classic lasagna, fettuccini alfredo, green beans, Caesar salad, antipasto salad, fruit salad, garlic bread sticks and chocolate layer cake for dessert.

Tickets are on sale now, Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the WNZR studios located on the second floor of Founders Hall on the MVNU campus. The deadline to purchase tickets is Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 12 p.m., and seating is limited. All profits from the Valentine’s Banquet will go to support MVNU broadcasting students planning to attend conferences this year.
