MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Campus Ministries and Cultural Life are excited to host Muwendo Children’s Choir on campus Monday, Sept. 30.
The children’s choir is part of the non-profit organization Heart for African People. Its goal is to spread the gospel of Jesus while drawing attention to supportive efforts for the children of Kosovo. The group performed at the Woodward Opera House during the 2019 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival.
They will perform during Chapel and will return at 7 p.m. for a full performance at the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium, which is open to the public.
“Engaging with groups like Muwendo Children’s choir reminds us that we are a part of something far bigger than ourselves — the Kingdom of God,” said MVNU Campus Pastor Rev. Stephanie Lobdell.
“We look forward to the day when people of every tongue, tribe and nation worship the Lord in unity," Lobdell said. "Strengthening connections with this group, and others like it, remind us the important of our faith and family that transcends borders.
"It also gives us the opportunity to experience the blessings of sacrificially giving so that others might live and thrive.”
Admission to the evening performance is free, but a free-will offering will be taken and child sponsorship opportunities will be provided.
