MOUNT VERNON -- Following Governor Mike DeWine’s recent announcement regarding the reopening of gyms and fitness centers in Ohio, Knox Community Hospital will be reopening the Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness Medical Fitness Center and therapy pool in Mount Vernon on Tuesday, May 26.

“We understand how important access to our professional exercise physiologists, personalized fitness classes, and state-of-the-art equipment is to our members, and we are thrilled to be able to provide these vital health and wellness resources to our community once again,” said Jeffrey Scott, Director of Marketing and Development at Knox Community Hospital.

Under guidance provided by the Ohio Department of Health, the KCH Fitness Center has implemented a variety of responsible protocols to ensure the safety of those utilizing the facility. Appropriate social distancing will be enforced, and there will be limits on the number of individuals who will be able to be inside the facility at one time.

Masks or face coverings will be required when entering the building and when interacting with others, but not during individual training on specific equipment. At this time, the therapy pool will be limited to aquatic classes only, and showers will be closed. Physical Therapy and Massage Therapy services remain open by appointment.

Anyone feeling ill or who may be particularly vulnerable due to age or underlying medical conditions is encouraged to stay home. A detailed outline of all the safety measures put in place has been provided to fitness center members, and more information can be obtained by calling 740-393-9875.
