MOUNT VERNON – Bob Boss, president of First-Knox National Bank, has announced that Brandon D. Hayes, branch manager and commercial lender, and Steven A. Waers, commercial lender, have been promoted to assistant vice president.

“Brandon and Steve have definitely earned their promotions,” Boss said. “They have become an integral part of our commercial lending team as well as First-Knox as a whole.”

Brandon Hayes joined First-Knox in 2016 as branch manager of the Mount Gilead Office, bringing with him over a decade of banking experience. His focus has been on developing commercial lending relationships in Morrow County as well as the Centerburg markets, although his customer base extends to all of Knox County.

“Brandon has just done a fantastic job for us in his respective markets,” Boss said. “Being a local guy, it was a smooth transition when he joined First-Knox. Brandon’s natural way with people contributes to his success, and his no pressure style fits with our culture.”

Hayes is a graduate of Cambridge High School and Malone University. He has completed the Ohio Banker’s League Bank Management School and attended various other banking classes.

Hayes is active in his son’s sports, and serves on the board of the Tomorrow Center School and the Morrow County Chamber of Commerce. He attends the Fresh Faith Nazarene Community Church in Mount Gilead. Hayes resides in Morrow County with his wife, Kacey, and sons Landen and Peyton. Steve Waers began his banking career with First-Knox in 2015 after spending eight years working for the Area Development Foundation. His experience interacting with new and existing businesses gave him a unique perspective into the needs of commercial customers.

“Even though Steve didn’t have direct commercial lending experience when he joined the bank, he had a good grasp of the different needs of a commercial customer," Boss said. "He has developed numerous relationships over the past few years and is committed to ensuring he remains in tune with his customer’s needs.”

Waers is a graduate of Meadowbrook High School in Byesville, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is active in his children’s sports activities and serves as treasurer on the Citizens Against Child Abuse board. Steve resides in Mount Vernon with his wife, Maribeth, and children, Cooper, Grant, Avery, and Brooklyn. He is available at the Mount Vernon Main Office during regular business hours.
