MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners, City of Mount Vernon, and Area Development Foundation have partnered together to create a matching grant program to encourage investment in the county’s commercial building facades. The Facade Improvement Grant (FIG) program will provide funds for improvements that can be seen from a public street through a 50% matching grant up to $20,000.
Business owners and tenants with buildings in Knox County zoned for commercial, office/institutional, or industrial uses, including for-profit and nonprofit entities, are eligible to apply. Applications are open through December 31st, 2023, and improvements must be completed within 12 months of the award date.
Funds will be reimbursed at the conclusion of the project after compliance is confirmed. For more details, go to www.knoxadf.com.
The program aims to stimulate business development and enhance Knox County’s unique character by encouraging small businesses to invest in the permanent improvement of fixed assets in Knox County’s commercial areas.
Completed applications will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis until allocated funds are exhausted or the program closure date. Applications must be complete before they will be considered.
The Area Development Foundation will administer the program through the Knox County Revolving Loan Fund, utilizing funds from the Knox County Commissioners and City of Mount Vernon ARPA allocations.
