MOUNT VERNON — Donley Auto Group, established in 1977, has been purchased by Ryan Sponsler who now assumes the role of president and dealer principal for all four Donley locations.
Sponsler has worked in several key positions within the company in his 25 years at Donley, most recently serving as vice president and shareholder before completing a full buyout in October of 2019.
Donley was founded by Robert Donley at its humble beginnings on E. 4th St. in downtown Ashland, then later sold to Scott Donley who assumed the role of president and owner in 2000. Sponsler, who married Kerri (Donley) was welcomed into the family business in 1995.
The business expanded to include its current locations in Galion, Mount Vernon, and Shelby, all of which are fully-staffed and able to provide a selection of new and pre-owned vehicles as well as its award-winning service and parts teams.
“I have learned so much about the business over these years and I’m truly excited about our future," Sponsler said. "I have been entrusted with carrying on the family business that both Scott and Bob Donley worked so hard to build over the years."
