MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Municipal Court Judge John Thatcher found 31 people guilty after rulings in his courtroom this week.

Jan. 7.

Eight people were found eight guilty after arraignments and hearings at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Jan. 7.

Christopher Schaade, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft by Deception. The Court sentenced him to pay a restitution to the victim, serve 180 days in jail, with 179 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: attend and complete the Court’s Social Responsibility Clinic.

Jeremy Hayes, 29, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to serve 17 days in jail.

Avery Smith, 25, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court sentenced him to pay restitution to the victim, serve 60 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.

Michael Atkins, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Theft. The Court sentenced him to serve 180 days in jail, with 160 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following conditions: attend and complete the Court’s Social Responsibility Clinic and complete 60 hours of community service.

Bruce Brown, 54, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Using a Weapon while being Intoxicated. He will be sentenced on Feb. 25, 2019 following a pre-sentence investigation.

Scott Au, 46, of Mansfield, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days, and suspended his operator’s license for one year for the OVI charge. He was sentenced to pay a $50 fine for the Possession charge.

Sharon Hankins, 48, of Howard, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

Caleb Pratt, 26, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on two years of probation.

Twenty three people were found guilty after arraignments and hearings at the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Jan. 8, 2018.

J. Scott Eshelman, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine for the DUS charge and a $150 fine for the Possession charge.

William Perry, 30 of Centerburg, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay Court costs only.

Joshua Ennemoser, 18, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

Donald Marvin, 49, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct while being Intoxicated. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.

David Barrett, 18, of Winterville, Ohio, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine.

Tyler Allen, 20, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of having Inoperative Brake Lights and Tail Lights. The Court sentenced him to pay a $25 fine.

Lee Ehrike, 39, of Croton, was found guilty of Driving Under a License Forfeiture Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.

Kenneth Davis, 46, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and having an Inoperative License Plate Light. The Court sentenced him to serve three days in jail.

Scott Llewellyn, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft and Criminal Trespassing. The Court sentenced him to serve 11 days in jail.

Caleb Miller, 44, of Danville, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Vehicle and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, placed him on two years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days for the Reckless Operation charge, and to pay a $150 fine for the Possession charge.

Amy Johnson, 49, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct and having an Inoperative License Plate Light. The Court sentenced her to pay a $75 fine for the DOC charge and a $25 fine for the Light violation.

Francis Passick, 35, of Marengo, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct/Persisting. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 fine.

Jeremiah Carter, 39, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, with 80 days suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60 days.

Michael Wallace, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Passing Bad Checks. He will be sentenced on April 19, 2019 following a pre-sentence investigation.

Jonathon Beaver, 35, of Danville, was found guilty of Violating a Protection Order. He will be sentenced on Feb. 19, 2019 following a pre-sentence investigation.

Briana Grubaugh, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or an Illegal Drug. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.

Ronald Miller, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $1,000 fine, serve 365 days in jail, with 335 days suspended, placed him on five years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for five years.

Charles Whitcraft, 31, of Martinsburg, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while,Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $1,000 fine, serve 365 days in jail, with 335 days suspended, placed him on five years of community control, and,suspended his operator’s license for five years.

Christina Cain, 39, of Grove City, was found guilty of Having Physical Control of a, Vehicle while Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 178 days suspended, and placed her on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment within 60,days.

Michael Miller, 43, of Marengo, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle while Under the,Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177,days suspended, placed him on two years of community control, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.

Logan Annett, 22, of Danville, was found guilty of two counts of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a total of $300 in fines.

Steven Miller, 31, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve three days in jail.

Amber Tarrh, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced her to pay a $75 fine.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the State of Ohio in the Perry, Barrett, Allen, Davis, and Llewellyn cases and the City of Mount Vernon in the, Eshelman, Ennemoser, Marvin, and Ehrike cases.

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the State of and the City of Mount Vernon in the remaining cases.
