MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 14 guilty after trials, arraignments and hearings were held this week in Mount Vernon Municipal Court.
These were the cases brought forward by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office.
MAY 4
Dale Powell Jr., 45, of Lexington, was found guilty of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him pay court costs on the Marijuana Paraphernalia charge and sentenced him to serve 10 days in jail on the Drug Possession charge.
Jerimiah Carpenter, 42, of Cardington, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine.
Jackie Kirk, 30, of Marengo, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $40 fine.
Dulcey Anderson, 65, of Heath, was found guilty of Left of Center with Distracted Driving. The Court sentenced her to pay a $30 fine on the left of center charge and ordered her to complete a safe driver course for distracted driving.
Dewey DeCooman Jr., 67, of Bladensburg, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Kirk and DeCooman cases and the State of Ohio in the Anderson case. Assistant Law Director, Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Powell and Carpenter cases.
MAY 3
Deiserea Robinson, 42, of Danville, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and not having a taillight. The Court sentenced her to pay a $250 fine.
Sierra Duncan, 32, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Telecommunications Harassment. The Court sentenced her to serve 180 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed her on two years of probation.
Mikaela Osborne, 19, of Howard, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine.
Seth Dowell, 22, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of riding a bicycle without a light. The Court sentenced him to pay a $15 fine.
Aron Conkle, 34, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under a 12-Point Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve three days in jail.
Angel Daniels, 19, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle without a Valid Operator’s License and Driving an Unsafe Vehicle. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine for having no Operator’s License and a $20 fine for driving an Unsafe Vehicle.
Gabriel Acevedo, 36, of Columbus, was found guilty of Driving Under an OVI/ALS Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine, serve three days in jail, and suspended his operator’s license for 30 days.
William Joiner, 32, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Domestic Violence and Aggravated Menacing. He will be sentenced on June 7, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Michael Cosner, 31, of Howard, was found guilty of Theft and Aggravated Trespass. The Court sentenced him to serve 22 days in jail.
Andrew Schuler, 18, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Assault on March 22, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on two years of probation with the following condition: complete anger management and graduate high school.

MAY 2
Richard Murphy, 39, of Pomeroy, was found guilty of Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to serve five days in jail.
Brandon King, 31, of Howard, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.
Steven Keener, 57, of Howard, was found guilty of Menacing. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine, serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation.
Kigneshkumar Patel, 37, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Selling Alcohol to Minors. The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine.
Alisha Sapp, 36, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended her operator’s license for one year.
Joshua Gardner, 43, if Utica, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
