LEXINGTON — Clear Fork supplied the early thunder, but Mother Nature delivered the lightning late in the first half Friday night.
As a result, the Colts were leading 21-3 with 1:44 left in the second quarter when the game was halted due to inclement weather. After a lengthy delay, the game was suspended and is scheduled to resume Saturday at 10 a.m.
Clear Fork (1-1) took a 7-0 lead with 6:05 left in the first quarter when senior QB Brennan South connected with junior receiver Ashton Lyon on a 32-yard TD pass.
The Colts made it 14-0 five seconds into the second quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by senior Elijah Hughes.
With 5:50 left in the half, Clear Fork made it 21-0 on a 16-yard pass from South to senior Jackson Myer.
Lexington (1-1), which had a TD run and a kickoff return for a TD wiped off the scoreboard due to penalties, scored on a 30-yard field goal by freshman A.J. Young with 2:04 left in the half.
The Minutemen also had three turnovers.
When the game was suspended, Clear Fork had 212 yards of offense, including 107 yards rushing on 15 carries. South was six of 12 passing for 105 yards and two TDs.
The Minutemen had gained 130 yards, including 81 yards rushing on 17 carries. Sophomore QB Cole Pauley had completed six of 12 passes for 49 yards with two interceptions.
