ASHLAND — An Ashland city firefighter posted bail Monday for rape and other charges, according to court records.

Aaron Drushell, 33, was indicted Friday by an Ashland County grand jury for allegedly raping a woman on July 9 and then attempting to cover it up a month later, knowing he was under investigation.

Drushell faces charges of rape, a first-degree felony; sexual battery and tampering with evidence, both third-degree felonies.

Drushell posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bond Monday and was released on recognizance, meaning he agreed to appear in Ashland County Common Pleas Court for all hearings related to the charges.

Drushell’s attorney, James Mayer, was not immediately available to comment to Ashland Source, but a Times-Gazette article published Monday quoted the attorney saying his client is ready for his day in court.

A jury trial has been scheduled for June 21, court records show.
