MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 22 people guilty and sentenced two defendants after a court trial, arraignments and hearings took place in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court this week
These were the cases brought forward by the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office.
MARCH 23
Alexander Blain, 27, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the State of Ohio in this case.
MARCH 22
Valerie Healy, 42, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and Operating a Vehicle with Expired Plates. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $25 fine for having Expired Plates.
Gavin Swope, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $35 fine.
Chaz Fisher, 24, of Mansfield, was found guilty of Failing to Stop at a Red Light and Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced him to pay a $35 fine for the Red Light charge and a $50 fine for the Possession charge.
Daishawn Logan, 18, of Zanesville, was found guilty of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $150 fine for each charge and suspended his operator’s license for 180 days for the Reckless Operation charge.
Holly Helmic, 46, of Wellston, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with an Expired Operator’s License. The Court sentenced her to pay a $200 fine.
Brian Fowler, 46, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension and having a Defective Exhaust. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $35 fine for the Defective Exhaust charge.
Vernon Reynolds, 18, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Possession of Marijuana. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.
Bethany Troyer, 27, of Millersburg, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and Speeding. The Court sentenced her to pay a $2oo fine for the DUS charge and a $20 fine for Speeding.
Tyler Stoller, 24, of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Falsification and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail for the Falsification charge and 30 days in jail for the Possession charge.
Kyle Fawcett, 26, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Menacing. The Court sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail.
Cassie Oliver, 31, of Centerburg, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced her to serve 30 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed her on one year of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete an Anger Management course.
David Hurlow, 65, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended his operator’s license for one year.
Chealsie Harris, 30, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft, Receiving Stolen Property and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. She will be sentenced on May 3, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Andrew Shuler, 18, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Assault. He will be sentenced on May 3, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Ethan Rine, 23, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Use of Weapons While Being Intoxicated. The Court sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, with 80 days suspended, and placed him on one year of probation.
Jeffrey George, 74, of Utica, was found guilty of Failing to Confine his Dog on March 8, 2022. Today he was sentenced to pay a $150 fine and to serve three days in jail.

Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.
MARCH 21
Thane O’Neal, 32, of Zanesville, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension and Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200 fine for the DUS charge and a $25 fine for Failing to Obey a Traffic Device.
Matthew Roth, 21, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Alysha Hoadley, 46, of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence and Improper Lane Usage. The Court sentenced her to pay a $ 500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed her on two years of community control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended her operator’s license for one year for the OVI charge. She was sentenced to pay a $50 fine for the Improper Lane charge.
Steven Wright, 47, of Howard, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence and Driving Left of Center. The Court sentenced him to pay a $ 500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 174 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment and suspended his operator’s license for one year for the OVI charge. He was sentenced to pay a $25 fine for the Left of Center charge.
